Privacy Policy

Aaroha (“we”, “us”) is a women's-health and parenting app for families in Nepal, covering menstrual and reproductive health, pregnancy, postpartum and child health. This policy applies to the Aaroha mobile app and website (aaroha.app). We are the data controller for the information described below.

Account — your name, email and/or phone number, chosen language, and the journey/stage you select.

Health information you enter — such as cycle and period dates, pregnancy details and due date, weight, blood pressure and blood-sugar readings, medicines and reminders, baby feeding/sleep/growth logs, journal notes, and any documents you add to your encrypted vault.

Community & support — posts, replies and reports you submit (which may be anonymous).

Device & usage — app version, device type, and basic diagnostics needed to run the service and keep it reliable.

You choose what to enter. You can use much of the app without providing sensitive health data.

• Provide the service and personalise it to your journey and stage.
• Show you relevant guidance, reminders and week-by-week content.
• Power the Doctor AI assistant (see below) and, if you allow it, send notifications.
• Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

We do not use your health data to build advertising profiles.

When you ask the Doctor AI a question, we send your question — and a private, family-scoped summary of your own records (for example your pregnancy week and latest readings) — to a trusted AI provider to generate a general, informational response. It is not a diagnosis. Your records are used only to personalise your answer; they are not used to train external models on your identifiable data.

The free tier may show ads via Google AdMob. Premium users see no ads. Ad providers may process limited device identifiers to serve and measure ads. We do not share your health records with advertisers. See Google's policies for how AdMob handles data.

We share data only:

• With your consent — for example a vault report you choose to share with a clinician, or family members you invite.
• With service providers — hosting, SMS/email delivery, AI processing and ads — bound to process data only on our instructions.
• For legal reasons — where required by law or to protect people from harm.

We never sell your personal or health data.

Health records are isolated per family. Files in your vault are encrypted at rest, and access requires authentication. We use industry-standard safeguards, though no system can be guaranteed perfectly secure.

• Access and update your information in the app.
• Export your records, or permanently delete your account and data.
• Revoke any share link or family access you granted.
• Turn notifications on or off.

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.

Aaroha is for adults. Child-health information is entered and managed by a parent or guardian on the child's behalf, and is protected the same way as all other family health data.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll revise the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
